Mina and I went with Bren and Jane to cover their prenup shoot for Focal Point Photography. We started right before noon and ended around four in the afternoon.

Enjoyed every bit of the moment as Bren and Jane were so fun to shoot. Both shared lots of ideas on how they want their pictures to appear which made our work a lot easier. They also welcome our ideas on what pics we wanted to take.

20090712 Pao and Pat Prenup Shoot

A colleague of mine, Chris, invited me to do a prenup photo session with his friends Pao and Pat. The location was a building in Fort Global City.

We didn't have enough time to take a lot of photos due to a very annoying building security personnel. Our original concept was set in the parking lot where we had a permit. But we had to move inside the office to continue the shoot. Nevertheless, we were able to take some snaps.

I had a great time shooting as the couple was fine with our suggestions and concepts.

20090711 Yamato Batman Series 1 by Kia Asamiya

Saturday night, I had finally decided to take some shots using my DIY gridspot. I chose my collection of Yamato Batman Series 1 by Kia Asamiya figures. Of course Batman was the first subject, followed by the Joker, Two-Face and finally, Catwoman.

I set up my Canon 40D with an EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L lens and 580EX II flash on a Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod. Post-processing made were cropping and some minor healing.

I enjoyed taking shots of Batman and Catwoman, more than that of Joker and Two-Face. The first two have more dynamic poses and Catwoman is hands down one of the most beautiful and curvaceous figs of all time.

20090308 Taranda Tachibana Figure

Here is manga Le Cirque de Karakuri's Taranda Tachibana 1/8 PVC Figure from the Excellent Model series by Megahouse. It was given to me by my good friends, Jams and Jins as a Christmas present.

The figure looks very well made. It's simple and Taranda's proportions are just right. The paint job is very good, as what you can expect with a Megahouse figure. The castoff feature is a surprise since it's the skirt that's removable and not the usual top. Nevertheless, the figure still looks decent, with or without the skirt.

This shoot was my first time to take up food photography, using a minimalist approach. Took photos from Dennis C's Grill, along Magsaysay Avenue in Naga City, Camarines Sur, Philippines. The photos were used for the newly-designed menu.

Photography Tips - For Sharp Images, Stability is the Key!

Ever noticed how sometimes, you thought you got a sharp image but end up with a blurry one?

Here are very basic tips get the sharp image that you want:

1. Use a sturdy tripod. Don't be lazy and leave that piece of metal lying somewhere. You can actually use it for better images!
2. Use a cable release or remote shutter. A release or remote is especially useful for landscapes and low-light photography.
3. If you don't have a cable release or remote shutter, try using the timer setting in your camera. Pressing the on-camera shutter can cause camera shake that can make or break an image's sharpness.
4. When holding a camera, keep your elbows close to your sides. You may look like awkward but as long as you get the shot, why not?
5. When shooting handheld, you can try and lean on something stable, like a tree, lamppost or wall.
6. Use a faster shutter speed, if you can. This will allow you to 'freeze' the frame.
7. Best advice I learned from my basic photography instructor for sharper images when shooting handheld is exhale, then press the shutter.

20070127 Old Trafford - Home of Manchester United

Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams, the home of the Manchester United Red Devils, was spectacular. We went to the Megastore at Old Trafford and I bought a Ronaldo home jersey.

The place was jampacked and tickets were sold out.

ManUtd won against Pompey, 2-1. Wayne Rooney was subbed in with 30 minutes remaining in the match and scored twice for the Red Devils. The second goal was a beautiful chip shot that made manager, Sir Alex Ferguson compare Rooney to the great Eric Cantona, after the match. The atmosphere was electric.

To watch Machester United at Old Trafford is a dream come true.
